It's probably been 6 years since I've done a palette knife painting, but yesterday I saw this painting and it inspired me to try it out again. I just loved how it was sort of representational but abstract at the same time. I loved the broad green color and how juicy the whole thing looked...I could just stare at it forever.
So in response I painted these two pieces, I like the first one a lot...
Clouds are a bit tricky to me, I used to be really good at them, but they also turned out super realistic and that's not really what I want. I guess I'll just keep painting, and hope I figure it out.
I got to see In the Heights at the Pantages Theater in LA this weekend, I feel like I've been waiting forever to see it! It was worth the wait :)
Today's painting is another view of the Carpinteria Salt Marsh, with the sun breaking through the clouds... only two days left of June, hopefully the gloom is almost over!
This painting doesn't really portray my usual color palette... the sky is much more pastel-ish than I would usually prefer. But that's how the sky felt that morning, so I guess I can't complain.
Just another foggy morning. I'm really enjoying painting the actual clouds, but I miss painting the shadows that sunlight brings, sometimes without them things just feel a little dull to me. But I usually like things really bright...so maybe this just brings it down to a normal level :) I am fond of how this one turned out.
I'm also working on a painting for another giveaway, it should start...
