I love all the sailboats that appear gliding through the water most weekends in Santa Barbara....I don't really want to sail...but I do like looking at them :)
The flu has seriously kicked my butt for the last few days, I can't remember the last time I felt this sick. The tylenol kicked in so I crawled up to my studio to make this quick post....will definitely not be painting today, but here's one I did last week:
Sometimes I like to play with paint...this is one of those times. I wanted to see what would happen if I painted this landscape as flat as possible. I really loved how the flat color turned out in the umbrella of this piece, so I decided to paint this little scene keeping the umbrella in mind.

Sometimes I get an urge to do a little mixed media...I don't know if you could even call it that, but I love sketching in ink and sometimes I like to try to mix that in with my usual oils. What usually happens is I use the oils more like watercolors...I don't know what to call it, but it's fun.
