I had the busiest day yesterday! I can't even believe how much I got done :) I slept SO well last night.
I chose to paint this little scene because I liked the shadows, sunset shadows are the best. And I liked the the dark telephone poles against the light colored sky.
I like painting night scenes every once in a while, I think I'll try to do more and hopefully get better at it. The extreme lights and darks are surprisingly difficult to paint in one shot.
I tried something pretty different with this piece. I usually don't do much of an underpainting, because I don't like to wait for things to dry, so for this one I tried an acrylic underpainting. I guess it was a mix between an underpainting and an outlining...I meant to take photos along the way and of course forgot all about it :) After the underpainting dried I continued with my normal oil...
