I really liked the smaller version I did of this scene (posted here). So I decided it would be worth it to paint a larger one. I think I actually like this one better than the first...and I might just be tempted to keep it for myself :)
I don't usually paint animals, but there was something about this duck and his shadow that needed to be painted. And I just love ducks. Especially white ones, we used to have a duck that looked just like this one...he was best friends with our dog, and would sleep on top of him. Also, a little bit of trivia, you can tell that this is a boy duck by the little curl on his tail :)
I want to do a giveaway soon (where I would giveaway one of my small 6x6 paintings). But I can't decide which would be a better choice, a landscape or a still life? Anyone have thoughts about which they would rather win?
So a landscape giveaway might look a little like this one:
And a still life giveaway would probably be of avocados (so fun to paint) and might look a little like this:
Hey guess what came today? Art supplies! Finally! Today's painting is a little different than usual, I don't think I've ever used purple as a background color before, but I kind of enjoyed it. I guess purple and I have a love/hate relationship.
