Here's a link to read more about my show opening tonight. I'm getting pretty nervous, and a little excited (nervcited? excivous?) I haven't even seen everything hung up yet. I've been told that since we're listed as #1 on the passport, things are pretty busy right at 5:00 and tend to taper off by 7:00 (just FYI)
Also here's number 2 in my new series, which is getting me very excited for the Europe...
I spent a lot of time a few months ago going through sketches and photos I took during my time in Europe. But then I got distracted preparing for my solo show and didn't get any of them painted, that's what I plan to remedy in the next few weeks.
My alma mater sent out nearly a 1000 sheets of 5x5 BFK Rives paper to artists all over the country, the returned pieces will be sold at the exhibition (in the gorgeous new Westmont Museum) in December.
I've never painted with oils on paper before and was a little nervous about how the paint was going to react with it. I used about 5 coats of clear gesso beforehand just to make sure it was enough....
I assume this couple was on a break from classes, judging by the backpack, either that or they were having a DTR (define the relationship) talk. Whichever one, the light was hitting them perfectly and that's what mattered most to me!
