I love how this one turned out, it's of my favorite river in Golden, CO. A perfect spot to go hang out on really warm summer days. This will be my last post for probably a week or so, it's time to pack everything up and get moving! I painted this from a photo I took one morning on our way to class. It felt like at least a 2 mile walk and we were all jet lagged, so taking random pictures was a great way to stay alert :) And as I've now realized, pictures taken in the early morning are the best!
I really like how this painting turned out. As you've probably figured out from the title it's the Lindisfarne Priory. This English Priory has a rich and exciting history, complete with raids from Vikings. Apparently the position of the island were the monastery was founded in 685 AD made it easy prey for Viking raiders. The ruins portrayed here are the remains of the church built in 1150. Parts...
There will be a series of paintings of Lindisfarne this week (a tidal island off of the North East coast of England). I found these old photos and remembered how beautiful it was that day that we visited.
