I'm taking a little break from my Europe series (before I start on the paintings of Italy!). Here's one of an early morning in Carp, I loved the color of that blue house next to the red color of the powerlines.

Rain Over Rincon - 12x24
I don't usually paint over my finished paintings, but I made an exception for this piece. I really hated what was underneath, so I sanded it down and gessoed over the whole thing. I was thick and random with the gesso and it turned into a very fun texture still visible under the finished piece.
I ended up liking this piece so much that I decided it should hang in our living room....at least...

I loved painting this piece, it came easily and I loved just letting myself be playful with it.

The more I work on these night scenes the more I like them. There will definitely be more of these in the future.
